The Lucky B
2025 has brought forth new ventures and new opportunities for us at the Lucky B Fishing Company. The original 36 will remain a permanent fixture in her home waters off San Diego, Ca. As our business evolves and transitions, we have acquired a brand new 36 Yellowfin as our primary charter vessel during the summer months in San Diego. She will be equipped exactly the same as the original 36 in true Lucky B form. As the summer months dwindle in Southern California, the 36 will hit the road to her winter home in the Florida Keys.
The 36 foot Yellowfin Offshore Center Console powered by triple v8 Mercury Verados. With 900 horsepower, this is the ultimate “run ‘n gun” platform, capable of getting you on the school and providing more opportunities to capitalize on our unique fishery. This vessel features a completely flush deck, several large fish holds and great bait capacity with multiples live wells. Yellowfin yachts are known for their speed, expansive fishing platforms and unrivaled ride in sloppy weather. With an average cruise speed in the mid 40 knot range and a top speed over 55 knots we will be one of the first boats in the zone and first one back to the dock at the end of the day. What that means to you is more fishing time, more opportunity, and most importantly…more fish.

The Lucky Bs are equipped with the finest fishing tackle available. All newer Shimano Trinidad and Talica reels paired with Gloomis IMX Pro Offshore Rods. We are also the only Southern California Charter boat equipped with the new Hooker Electric Reels for an unmatched local swordfish experience. To further enhance our opportunities, we utilize Fraser Volpe Gyro stabilized binoculars, Simrad electronics, and the latest oceanic temperature software to help us locate the fish. All in, we try to leave very little to chance which means success more often than not.
Since moving winter and spring operations to Key West, Lucky B now runs a Yellowfin 24CE in addition to the 36 Offshore. This high performance bay boat is the ultimate back country vessel for the lower Florida Keys! Tarpon in the spring time are the main target but full day excursions also include scenic eco tours and frequent stops at some of the most beautiful sand bars in the world.

WHY LUCKY B?
The origin of Lucky B dates back to when the obsession began. As a young high school kid, I took more to spending time on the water rather than doing normal high school activities. I would rather spend countless hours in a desolate ocean searching and learning the ways of a unique trade than cheering on people I didn’t know at a football game or going to a party. Coming back to the dock time and time again with a boatload of fish, the name Lucky B stuck. And while luck has very little to do with it, the name fit. But when it really meant something was in 2020 when the actual business Lucky B Sportfishing was formed. While 2020 was a difficult year for most, it happened to have a particularly hellish start for myself. Along with Covid-19, I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. This consisted of four cancerous tumors in my chest, with the largest one, the size of a small football. Faced with no other option other than to do whatever was absolutely necessary to beat this, I proceeded. After 12 rounds and 6 months of chemo and immunotherapy, I can say that I am cancer free. Cancer is no joke and I am LUCKY, grateful, and happy to be where I am today. Armed with a life altering point of view, I set out to make my dream a reality. With the realization that life is precious and we cannot take anything for granted, I didn’t want to waste another day doing something I wasn’t passionate and fully committed to. Hence the birth of Lucky B Sportfishing! It this passion and perspective that we strive to bring to out on a daily basis while out on the water. While there are many outstanding operations in this industry, we hope that you give us the opportunity to provide an excellent experience for your friends and family one day.
